All Submissions

All submissions, regardless of medium, must follow these guidelines.

  • Each piece must be submitted as a separate file.
  • The file name should match the title of your piece exactly.
  • Do not include identifying information in the title of your piece.

Limit five submissions per person.

Submit Visual Art

Art pieces must be submitted in .png format.

Signatures within the body of an art piece are acceptable. If the photograph of your piece is low resolution and needs to be retaken, you may still submit it; if your piece is accepted, we will reach out to you to arrange for a new photograph to be taken.

Fiction & Poetry

Submit Fiction Submit Poetry

Written pieces must be submitted as Microsoft Word documents (.docx), not as .pdf files.

All pieces should be submitted in 12-point Times New Roman font, left-justified. Fiction pieces must be double spaced, and poetry pieces must be single spaced.

Submit Music

Audio submissions must be submitted in .mp3 or .wav format. Samples are not allowed: the use of samples in music submissions will lead to the automatic disqualification of the piece.

Recording on Campus

If you're interested in recording a submission, please contact us at highgrade@mines.edu to make an appointment in collaboration with the LAIS Music Technology Program. Appointments must be made in advance.

The music technology program is located in the Ford Building, and uses ProTools 2011 and state of the art equipment to record.

Use in the Journal

Music featured in the journal is posted as web-exclusive content to our site and to SoundCloud.
